The L-15 Falcon, JL-10 Chinese designation, is an advanced jet trainer (AJT) developed by Hongdu to provide flight training for fourth and fifth generation fighter aircraft. The new jet trainer is powered by two AI-222K-25F high thrust-weight ration turbofan engines which allow enhanced maneuverability and high reliability. The L-15 trainer performs as a third generation fighter in wartime missions. Its maximum takeoff weight is 10,500 kg, a maximum level flight speed of 1,200 km/h, a maximum rate of climb at 200 m/sec, a service ceiling of 16,000 m, a maximum controllable flight angle of attack greater than 30 degrees, and a maximum ferry range of 2,600 km. The L-15 Falcon AJT was showcased at the Paris air show in June 2013.
